A reef tank AI advisor is only as useful as the data it can see. ReefDiary’s Reef Intelligence and AI Chat work against the parameter history, dosing log, and imported ICP results already stored on the tank, without an export-and-paste step.

What Reef Intelligence looks at
Reef Intelligence reviews the tank record you have already logged: parameter trends, target ranges, and the context sitting on that system. The point is to notice drift — alkalinity easing down over two weeks, a dose that did not move the number you expected — while the livestock still looks fine.
AI Chat is the same record, asked in plain language. Water chemistry, livestock questions, and gear questions can use the synced history instead of a blank chat that has never seen your tests.
How this compares with export-based AI
Reef Trak’s public pages, checked in July 2026, describe TrakAI as an export you paste into whatever chatbot you already use. That keeps the model choice open. It also means the analysis happens when someone remembers to export.
NextUpReef’s public pages describe Reef AI Advisor and AI Chat on the Pro tier, reading tank data inside the app. Reefability describes an in-app Reefer AI plus photo pest identification. ReefDiary’s approach is the in-app one: the model reads data that is already synced, including ICP values that landed in parameter history.
What the advisor will not claim
AI output is a reading of your log, not a diagnosis and not a dosing order. Serious Reefer includes a monthly AI credit allowance; Enterprise includes a larger allowance for shops. The free Starter tier includes a small trial credit pool. Exact credits and prices come from Admin pricing, shown on signup.
If the log is empty, the advisor has nothing specific to say. The useful setup is still the tracker, the dosing log, and the ICP import.
Questions that have something to read
“Why is alkalinity down this month?” is a good question when the chart and the dosing log exist. “Is my tank healthy?” with no tests stored is not. Reef Intelligence is a reading of the record, so the record has to be there first.
AI credits are metered. Starter includes a small trial pool. Serious Reefer and Enterprise include a monthly allowance, and the live numbers are on the signup and enterprise pages. The advisor does not get smarter because a page calls it an advisor. It gets more specific because the tank history is already synced.

Is reef AI included on the free plan?
Starter includes a limited AI trial credit pool. Ongoing monthly credits are part of Serious Reefer and Enterprise. Current amounts are on the signup page.
Will the advisor tell me exactly what to dose?
It can point at trends and dosing history. You still decide the dose. It is not a substitute for a test result.
